Countries like Slovenia, Croatia, Bosnia/ Herzegovina and others are expected to have in increase in tourism for the 2018 season. Slovenia is expected another 7% to 10% increase in tourist from last year. So far its been steadily rising in the number of visitors from previous years. Passenger numbers are up 19.8% at the Ljubljana Airport. Adria Airways (Slovenian Flag Carrier Airline) has added seven new destinations for this summer.
Next door to Croatia, the country is also looking for an increase in tourist. Split, Croatia one of the main hubs for gorgeous beaches and nightlife has seen a steady rise. Even though European Coastal Airlines stopped its service all together in Split, the flock of visitors driving, flying and even taking a ferry in hasn't stopped the rise. Zagreb Airport are also up 11.8%. Air Canada Rouge will begin its seasonal service this summer from Toronto. Also another Canadian Airline, Air Transat will begin its service from Montreal this summer as well. With those two vacation airlines bringing service to Zagreb we could see another 10% increase in passengers. Serbia and Bosnia/ Herzegovina has also brought in new flights from Europe and North America. Thats just from the airline section. Dubrovnik was also put on the map, since it was one of the filming locations for the TV show Game of Thrones. This has also helped increase tourism to the town. It has been a good few years for the former Yugoslav States and now it should be another good few more years as we will see an increase in visitors coming more and more every year.

Yesterday was a day of horror in Parkland, Florida. When the students and staff were finishing the day fire alarms started going off. Students and started to head into the hallways to head outside. Nikolas Cruz who in 19 years old blended in, and started the massacre. Armed with AR-15 and lots of magazines full of ammo, he started shooting. 17 people got killed in the school shooting. Including so far is confirmed a staff member who was a assistant football coach and security guard.
The shooters social media was full of photos with guns and commenting on how he wanted to kill people and law enforcement officials for killing "good people". From what we understand he mother had passed away as well has his father. Nikolas was also expelled a year ago due to problems he had. He was not aloud to go on school grounds with-out a backpack. Students were texting parents telling them what happened. One student even posted on snapchat how his school was being shot up. One picture showed someone who had died. Nikolas Cruz has been charged with 17 counts of premeditated murder following the deadliest shooting at a US school since 2012. Tomorrow is the start of the 2018 winter olympics held in South Korea. Over the course of the week olympians from all nations of former Yugoslavia arrived. Slovenija is going to be the favourite going into the events. Slovenian Tina Maze, who was won 9 medals including 4 gold medals retired October 2016.
Each country from former Yugoslavia has the following number of olympians:
A cold and flu has been also going around, so some officials have been getting sick and told to stay home. North Koreas Kim Jong Un's sister will be heading to the olympics to support North Korea. This is the first time a member of the Kim family has visited the country since the Korean war. Serbia and Serbians still think to that Kosovo is not a country. With that thinking, do they think that Slovenia, Croatia, Bosnia Herzegovina, and all other countries from former Yugoslavia are not countries, either but Serbia's? When debates happen on social media most Serbians always respond "What did we do?" And point fingers at other former Yugoslavia countries as Serbia is innocent. No country is perfect, but the fact of the matter is Serbia has had more problems with-in Yugoslavia then any other country.
While other countries were working hard for Yugoslavia when Milosevic was in power, Serbs and there country sat there and just let the money flow in. Slovenia and Croatia both claimed independence June 24, 1994. There have always been some border wars with-in the former country, but tensions are rising between Serbia and Albania for Kosovo. Kosovo is 50/50 Split of Muslims and Orthodox. Kosovo did gain independence from Serbia February 17, 2008 and was recognized by 111 UN states. The only country that did not recognize is Serbia. So if we go back to the history books the Serbian way, Yugoslavia still exists. With tensions rising, war could be in the near future. Russia is backing the Serbians. |
